Summer show

2019 GROUP EXHIBITION

My work encompasses a variety of mediums and techniques. Dichotomy, is a series of 12 casts divided into 2 groups/bodies of work. One group comprises negative casts in jesmonite taken from clay moulds that have been produced using bas-relief technique. Whereas the second group comprises positive plaster casts extracted from the same clay moulds and finished using Acrylic paints.

The concept of my theme tackles with belief systems such as totemism, religion, supernatural, science, psychology, as well as, the importance of identity. I have depicted prehistorical symbols- Cucuteni-Trypillia Neolithic culture, zoomorphic elements and totemic references related to my origins and cultural background. Therefore, enabling me to compile a library, as well as, a dichotomy of elements in a contemporary context encompasing monumental connotations. The materials used, the shapes and patterns, the textures, the concave vs convex relation are elements in a constant contradiction. Nonetheless, they succeed into complementing each other and creating a dialogue, translating a story from a concept to a physical state.
